Does your child habitually breathe from their mouth? It may seem a minor issue. However, mouth breathing in children can lead to greater risks, including crooked teeth and abnormal jaw development. Every breath, every inhale and exhale, is intertwined with the body’s overall functioning, even influencing the structure of our face.
Nasal breathing is at the bedrock of a child’s growth and development. Its impacts go beyond the nasal passage, influencing sleep, cognition, energy levels, and even the postural alignment of the head and neck. By breathing through our nose, we set the foundation for a correctly developed upper and lower jaw, framing our countenance and health from early years onwards.
As a dental professional, I fully appreciate the challenges. That’s why today, I’m introducing a revolutionary approach by the name of Buteyko Breathing. Named after Dr. Buteyko, this breathing method has proved effective in addressing the issue of mouth breathing. Properly aligning with it can make all the difference not only in oral health but overall well-being.
To delve deeper, I am thrilled to connect with Dr. Dan Hanson. A dental colleague, Dr. Hanson has dedicated his work to the application of Buteyko Breathing techniques. He has shaped a deliberate, breathing-focused myofunctional system entitled “MyoFocus”.
Together, we’ll explore the intricate bond between breath, teeth, and growth. We’ll look into often-overlooked elements like oral ties and how we can foster the development of straighter, healthier teeth, and much more!
Breathing, something so natural, so automatic, yet carries such profound implications on your child’s dental health. Embarking on this journey of understanding breath and its broader impacts has never been so crucial. From a single breath to an entire life, this is your chaperoned exploration towards a healthier future.
